The Clicks: Left vs. Right

Your mouse has two sides and they do completely different things. Once you know which is which, everything clicks (no pun intended).

๐Ÿ‘† Left-Click = Select or open ๐Ÿค” Right-Click = See your options

Left-click is your everyday button. Use it to select links, open programs, and click buttons.

Right-click is like asking "what can I do here?" It pops up a menu of choices. Whenever you feel stuck โ€” try right-clicking first.

Quick rule: Left to do it. Right to think about it.

Where Did My Download Go?

When you save a picture or document from an email or the internet, it goes to a special folder called Downloads. Here's how to find it every single time:

  1. 1
Look at the bar at the very bottom of your screen (the taskbar). Find the yellow folder icon โ€” that's File Explorer. Click it.
  2. 2
On the left side of the window that opens, look for the word Downloads. Click it.
  3. 3
Your file is in there. Boom โ€” there it is.
Good to know: Every file you download lands in the Downloads folder unless you specifically chose somewhere else. Always check there first.

โŒจ๏ธ Tip Three

Copy and Paste in 1 Second

This is the shortcut that saves most people hours every week. No more retyping the same thing twice or hunting through menus.

  1. 1
To Copy: Highlight the text you want. Then hold Ctrl + press C.
  2. 2
To Paste: Click where you want the text to go. Then hold Ctrl + press V.
Memory trick: C is for Copy. V looks like a funnel pouring text down โ€” that's Paste.

Joining a Zoom Call โ€” Step by Step

When someone sends you a Zoom invite, there's a blue link in the message. That link is your door in. Here's all you do:

  1. 1
Click the blue link they sent you in your email or text message.
  2. 2
If a small box pops up and asks to open Zoom, click "Open Zoom Meetings."
  3. 3
When it asks about your sound, click the big blue button that says "Join with Computer Audio."
  4. 4
    You're in. Say hello! ๐Ÿ‘‹
Quick tip: Join the call 5 minutes early. It gives you time to sort out the audio without feeling rushed.

๐Ÿ›ก๏ธ Tip Five

Spotting Email Scams Before They Get You

Scammers are sneaky. But they always use the same tricks. If an email does any of these things โ€” stop, close it, and do not click anything:

โš ๏ธ
Claims your bank account or Amazon account is "locked" and you need to verify now.
โš ๏ธ
Demands immediate payment using gift cards or wire transfers.
โš ๏ธ
Warns you about a virus on your computer and gives you a number to call.
Rule of thumb: When in doubt, close the email. Then call a family member or text Manasseh at 682-331-3783 to double-check. Never click first.
๐ŸŽ

Bonus: The Undo Button โ€” Your Safety Net

Made a mistake? Deleted something by accident? Hold Ctrl + press Z to undo your last action. On most programs, you can press it multiple times to keep going back. It's your computer's time machine. Use it freely.
