YBBC AI Workshop Recap: How Dallas Youth Got a Look at the Future of Business

Happy YBBC Friday, y'all. WOW. Yesterday was one of those sessions that reminds me exactly why I do this work. The YBBC at St. Philips Church of God in Christ opened up their doors, and man, the room was packed with young people who were ready to learn, ready to engage, and ready to think bigger about their futures. Good to go.

The goal was simple: show these young people that AI is not some far-off sci-fi concept. It is already running inside the industries they dream about, and if they understand it now, they are going to have a serious advantage when it counts.

What We Got Into

I kept it real with the students. No jargon. No complicated slides. Just straight conversation about how AI is already changing three industries that young people actually care about:

• Real Estate: AI is doing property analysis, pricing predictions, neighborhood research, and even writing listing descriptions faster than any human. The agents winning right now are the ones who know how to use the tools.
• Music: AI is being used for music production, mixing, beat creation, and marketing. The business side of the music industry is being re-organized around people who understand these tools.
• Social Media: Content strategy, scheduling, caption writing, graphics, trend research. All of this is being handled with AI. Young people are already creating content. Adding AI knowledge to that skill set turns a hobby into a real income stream.

The Career Path Conversation

When you tell a teenager that knowing how to use AI will literally change how they can earn money, they pay attention differently. We talked about what the job market is going to look like in the next five to ten years. The Teen and Young Adult job market is being re-created right now. The people who are learning how to use these tools while their peers are still ignoring them are going to define what the new jobs actually look like.

The "Project Your Future Self" Activity

Students got to project their future selves using AI tools. They imagined themselves in their career, described what they did, and let the tool show them what that might look like. The pictures that came out of that activity were incredible. Young people in suits. Young people in studios. Young people in boardrooms. When a teenager sees themselves in that seat, something shifts.
